Linux Ad-Hoc Wireless Network
The following example uses eth1 for the wifi interface though this may be wlan0, ath0 or something else in your case.
Preparation
Ensure that network manager has been stopped and then bring the interface down.
sudo /etc/dbus-1/event.d/25NetworkManager stopsudo ifdown eth1
Configuration
Preparation
Ensure that network manager has been stopped and then bring the interface down.
sudo /etc/dbus-1/event.d/25NetworkManager stopsudo ifdown eth1
Configuration
- Switch the card into ad hoc mode
· sudo iwconfig eth1 mode ad-hoc - Set the channel/frequency that you want to use.
· sudo iwconfig eth1 channel 11 - Add the name (ssid) for the network you want to create/join. Use single quotes if there is a space in the name.
· sudo iwconfig eth1 essid 'name' - Add a WEP encryption key
· sudo iwconfig eth1 key 1234567890
Activation
- Bring the interface back up
sudo ifconfig eth1 up - Start dhclient to get an address
· sudo dhclient eth1
If you want to do it manually, you will have to make up an IP address.
· sudo ifconfig eth1 10.0.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forwardiptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j

Diet and Exercise---Simple Plan for Long-term Weight Loss
Diet and Exercise---Simple Plan for Long-term Weight Loss
So I'm still in the kick of wanting to loose weight. I will do it, nay IT WILL BE DONE. I've been looking at this page today and it really does look promising. Checkout the link. I think you'll be impressed. I'm going to try it myself, just tweak it a bit... Here goes nothin!

Xeon Server - Virtualization Server
So the past couple months I've been piecing together, well not piecing... Alright, yes piecing together parts from Ebay to put together a new Virtualization Server. So far I've gotten the motherboard, the RAM and the Dual Processor Xeon's. Here's a quick list of what I have and what I need.
- TYAN S2721 SERVER MOTHERBOARD W/ DUAL XEON 3.0, 6GB RAM - HAVE
- 5x HITACHI 7K1000 - 1TB Hitachi SATA300's - NEED
- 2x SanDisk 8GB Card Ultra II - NEED
- 2x Compact Flash CF to 2.5 SATA Converter Adapter - NEED
- 2U - 6 or 8 Bay Rackmount Server Case w/Dual Power Supply (3x Redundant will work too) - NEED
This server will be running VMWare's latest version of ESXi v4. I've picked this because it's the closest to VMWare's actual ESX/vSphere software. I've been running ESXi v3 on my HP DL320 for the past 6 months and haven't had a problem. I've also had experiance running the standard (Pricey) ESX 3.5 on a couple servers I had at the CyberCenter, and it was an absolute joy to run that. The management capabilities with ESX; well VMWare is just awesome!
I will be configuring this new server to run only 3 - 4 VM's.
- Windows 2008 Server, Exchange 2007 x64
- Ubuntu Linux - File Server
- Debian Linux - Media Server (Video, Audio, Photos)
I've chosen to install a 2008 Server specifically so I can experiment with IIS and Exchange.
The above Ubuntu and Debian Servers are for "Play"...
As for Storage - I will be using 5x SATA 1TB Hitachi's for Storage. I will also be using 2x CF cards for the installation of the VMWare ESXi Software. I will be using the CF cards for the OS installation instead of using the Hitachi's. This will be the closest thing to Solid State that I can get. ALSO if I plug the CF's into the RAID Card, I'll be able to do a cheap little RAID array for the cards.
More to come. Hopefully I don't blow it up

Working late... On a Saturday
So its a nice chilly night in Rochester, chilly is good dor this area. I've here at work, working on the terminal server with Jerry since 4... I think we have a good idea of what's been going on. All I can say is I hate segmented networks... Well on if it starts killing servers in conjunction... Well I think were done here so its time to go home... I'll continue this later on... Arrive derci!

Bored... World of muse.. Dazed and confused... What can we reuse?
Hastily trapped in black wishing to see the light. Bright eyes no more, readily saddened by night... Can we die today or will we just fight for our birth rights? Die I will not, love I will always. This is my life, like it or not. Always and forever.

Gavin Ross dale Concert
I can't help but think of the time I went down to Florida with my father, step mother and step sister, probably 10, 12, 13 years ago... All I had was a Bush CD I got from someone for Christmas... I listened to that CD from Rochester, NY to Jensen Beach Florida... I can still remember the lyrics to they're album 16 stone. Well, here's Gavin now; 15 years later after putting that CD out.... Not bad man, still a great entertainer.
